The dental care experts at Lithia Springs Cosmetic & Family Dentistry are delighted to offer custom-fit veneers to help improve the overall appearance of your teeth. Veneers are wafer-thin shells that are placed upon the surface of one’s teeth as a way of enhancing their appearance. Because of their simplicity and versatility, an increasing number of individuals are electing to receive this cosmetic dental treatment.
Veneers are used in a wide variety of dental applications, including:
- Color enhancement
- Correct crooked or misshapen teeth
- Repair chipped or damaged teeth
- Resize teeth
Veneers are designed to be ultra-thin, making them virtually undetectable, as they offer the full appearance of healthy, white tooth enamel. They are constructed using special materials that make them resistant to staining from tobacco use and beverages such as wine and coffee. With proper care, veneers are designed to last for a full decade. Our practice offers both porcelain and composite veneers.
In most cases, the installation of custom-fit veneers requires two visits. The first step is to prepare the designated tooth for the process by shaving off some of its enamel. This is done to accommodate for the space that the veneer will occupy on the tooth. Next, impressions of the tooth are taken, and the precise coloring of the veneer is determined. Using this information, a customized veneer is created in a dental laboratory. The initial visit ends by fitting the patient with a temporary restoration that is designed to last until their customized veneer is ready.
After the custom veneer is finished, the patient will return for their second visit. The tooth is then cleaned and applied with etching gel in order to help the veneer bond properly with the tooth. The veneer is fixed to the tooth using a special bonding agent. Finally, the dental expert will provide the patient with instructions on how to care for the newly-installed veneer.
